In 2007, Erik won his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck race in the Roush 99 truck. He's got the talent to really go far in racing. He is now in the Nationwide Series.  For his personal ARCA racing he uses the car pictured here. The top decal in the front fender stack is ours. We've treated virtually every part we can treat in this car. Erik has a great winning record with this car. Three starts, two wins, and three top fives. For more information on Erik, you can go to these websites.

No, Smokey did not use cryogenics that we know of.  We were talking with him about it but he up and died before we got too far.  (What some people will do to not talk about cryogenic processing!!)  But if you are into racing anSmoke Yunik's Best Damn Garage in Townd innovation, get yourself a copy of Smokey's Best Damn Garage in Town.  Smokey Yunick was an American treasure.  It would be hard to get a better description of the early days in NASCAR and the mid '50's to mid 70's at Indy.  Smokey knew all the players, and gives his opinion (right or wrong) of some of the major ones.  Want to read of someone who thinks outside the box?  Read this book.  This book should be required reading for all engineers, corporate executives and racers.  Be aware that the book does contain some errors, Smokey's English is sometimes hard to follow, the language is sometimes a bit foul, and while not graphic, there are many allusions to sex.  I don't think he stepped over the line, but some people might not understand that in order to give an accurate picture of this period in racing, you can't pull any punches.

Smokey, even if we didn't get to work with you we enjoyed talking with you and we miss you.

Controlled Thermal Processing was started by race driver Jim Birks over twenty five years ago.  Jim has raced just about anything that moves.  Some of the first parts Jim treated in his first cryogenic processor were the brakes and engine parts for his cars.   We have racing in our blood.  We maintain a processing plant near Mooresville, North Carolina in order to service the racing industry
