Our Research Support

We Support Research into the Use of and the Theory of Cryogenic Processing

A fairly comprehensive list of research papers and articles about cryogenic processing has been compiled by the ASM Cryogenic Processing Sub-Committee.  It is now on the web due to the work of the Cryogenic Society of America.  Go to the CSA Data Base

If you know of an article that is not on this list, please contact Rick Diekman at info@metal-wear.com so we can include it.

Controlled Thermal Processing is proud to work with researchers from such institutions as Illinois Institute of Technology, the US Army, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Honeywell, and others.  We have also helped by supporting research on the high school and grade school level.  We are currently sponsoring research at the University of Texas. We will consider providing cryogenic processing for any valid research project.

We are currently working with Debra Smith as she works on her doctorate at Marquette University.  She is researching the affect of cryogenic processing on springs. Her efforts are helping us learn more on how we make valve springs and other springs last longer.  If you are interested in this project please contact us.

We encourage research in the field of cryogenic processing.  We are willing to talk with legitimate researchers on the the subject of supporting their research with our knowledge and with the processing of parts.  We will do our best to interest other entities such as our customers in helping with the research and with supplying knowledge and research materials.

Cryogenic processing will reach its total potential only if research and practical experience come together and solve the mystery of what is really happening.

To the skeptics:

First of all, do not come to us and tell us that cryogenic processing is some sort of hoax or that the research that shows it works is somehow faked.  Unless you can prove what you say through research or facts, do not bother us with this drivel.  It is insulting to the learned men and women who have done the research to dismiss them as liars and fakes unless you have something to back up what you are saying.  Show us that we are wrong through research.  We will help you the same way we help those seeking knowledge.  We will participate in legitimate research projects designed by those who are skeptics to the best of our ability.

In other words, WE DARE YOU TO TRY AND PROVE US WRONG.
